Future of Television
Sometimes I consider that, one day if I can see all TV programs via internet, why do I need TV?
Of course, it is very hard to let you get every TV program on the internet. After all, it needs a extremely high speed internet to keep the high quality as TV shows. But if it is quick enough, I will try to get my program from TV websites. This is convenient for me because I don't watch TV so much. I think it is possible because you can find some part of the show in Youtube or other streaming video site now. If everyone can watch programs by streaming media, maybe we don't need TV anymore.
However, in the view of film maker and audience, I think it is impossible to do that. For me, I don't like to get constrained by the time of certain program every week. But for some people, they like to sit on the sofa and search something interesting. That means, sometimes watching TV has no certain target. On the contrary, to find some programs on the internet has its purpose to search. Thus, these two behaviors are totally different in essence. From the view of the film maker, surely they would like people to buy DVD after they watch it. If the programs can be watched on the internet, companies will hard to get extra revenue unless they need payments.
In my opinion, streaming media is a good idea for people to watch video online, but the video is limited in some genres. In the video site, we can see lots of video shared by amateurs and some special parts of the shows or movies. To replace TV, I think there is a long way to go.
